BDS provides information services and solutions in support of all BlackRock and BlackRock Solutions businesses. BlackRock is one of the largest consumers of index data in the world currently tracking over 30,000 indices across multiple providers and asset classes.

The ideal candidate for this position should have in-depth knowledge and experience pertaining to Equities and Fixed Income (and derivative) Index products and their numerous vendors. The candidate will also be expected to help develop and support multiple index products used by investment management teams in the daily management of client portfolios. The development of index products will include product evaluating, back-testing and data scrubbing to ensure products can meet investment objectives. Along with the ability to build out proof-of-concept indexing methodologies and models, the candidate will be expected to have a strong understanding of the products' attribution and returns. Working within this capacity will allow the candidate to gain a keen understanding of the Aladdin data model and how it is used to support over $15 trillion worth of assets, as well as participate on projects to develop and support new product rollouts. Finally, the candidate will work cross functionally as a key team player and will be collaborating with colleagues in New York, London, Singapore and India.

Responsibilities:

In-depth knowledge of Index products and Financial Markets pertaining to numerous asset types (Fixed Income, Equity, Derivatives, ETFs.)

Strong familiarity with index/benchmark providers such as MSCI, S&P, FTSE, Russell, Bloomberg-Barclays, BankofAmerica ML, JP Morgan and Citigroup.

Keen understanding of vendor index methodologies in addition to benchmark construction experience, including composites.

Strong understanding of Index Attribution and Returns concepts and calculation methods

Ability to demonstrate proof-of-concept of new indexing methodologies and models

Keen understanding of index holding analytics such as duration, convexity, spread, yield, VaR and returns

Build and maintain strong working partnerships with internal investment teams

Resolve project roadblocks, identify and manage project risks, detect unstated assumptions, resolve conflicts, escalate issues appropriately and concisely report project status to clients and internal stakeholders.

Liaise with market data managers, product managers, product developers and key index data users to deliver on key objectives and milestones.

Provide superior client service, through defined governance, engagement models and defined client offering.

Analyze systems and processes to find efficiencies and improve accuracy and timeliness of data delivery.

Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of prior experience with index providers, data vendors, and/or stock exchanges

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and data sources

Ability to work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Ability to network and influence others without direct oversight and supervision

Strong business process modeling skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Strong critical reasoning skills

Desire to deliver world class client support

Passion for solving investment business problems

Ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities

Familiarity in Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational database concepts (tables, indices, procedures, triggers, etc.) is a plus
