Information Technology (IT) Supervisor Level 1

Seeking an IT Supervisor for a large application development team to manage objectives, supervise staff, and organize and monitor work process as a first-level supervisor; strategically leading a team under direction of the Information Technology Manager. This position is responsible for the supervision of application developers and business systems analysts supporting an enterprise Commercial Off the Shelf Software Application

The selected Supervisor will organize, plan, and direct the work of technical and professional personnel supporting the enterprise application systems

This is a contract to perm opportunity. Once perm, full benefits are provided.

Supervisor Job Duties:

  • Provides technical leadership to staff in supporting strategic technology goals and objectives
  • Contributes, plans and participates in the selection and evaluation of staff; assigns, directs, coordinates, and reviews work plans, activities, and projects; ensures that staff provide a high degree of services to Information Technology' customers
  • Coordinates task and project activities with Information Technology staff, users, and vendors
  • Manage projects and build strategy Road Maps
  • Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, organizing, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; implementing productivity standards; resolving operations problems; maintaining reference manuals; implementing new procedures.
  • Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.

Required skills:

  • Candidate must possess good understanding of different software development methodologies; both traditional and Agile.
  • Prior Road Map strategy experience

Knowledge of:
Information Technology principles and procedures necessary to fully support enterprise wide application systems including needs analysis, selection, implementation, configuration, operation, administration, support, and maintenance; systems analysis practices and procedures; business and office procedures; principles and practices of employee supervision; research techniques and methods; budgeting practices; project planning and management methods; contract administration principles; and support of .NET applications and SQL

Ability to:
Plan, coordinate, and schedule the work of others; lead and supervise technical staff in complex simultaneous projects; prepare and maintain a variety of reports and records; understand and apply user specifications when performing systems evaluation; plan, schedule, and complete projects efficiently; analyze and interpret research and formulate appropriate action plans; prepare clear and concise program documentation, user procedures, and other written materials; exercise independent judgment within established guidelines; communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, end users, vendors, and contractors.

Applicants are required to have experience and/or education that demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field AND five years of progressively responsible experience managing or administering application systems, including three years as a project lead or team leader, are required

Prior VB.NET development and SQL query experience or a Computer Science Degree
