Requirements:
1. 6+ years of software development experience.
2. Expert with Python, Django, Celery, DRF, Docker
3. Successful track record in a team leadership role
4. Familiarity with AWS's most popular services.
5. Experience with event stream platforms (Kafka) and message-based architecture
6. Experience with ML stacks (Spark, Sagemaker)
7. NoSQL experience, Redis and ElasticSearch in particular.
8. Expert with CI/CD build and test pipelines
9. Rust experience is a plus.
10. Experience working with a fully remote team
Responsibilities:
1. Lead architecture and development for complex backend service architecture, with an eye toward increasing investment in message-based and microservices-based architecture
2. Keen interest in clean, testable, customer-facing API architecture
3. Take the lead on key development projects that require support from multiple engineers
4 Maintain, promote, and ensure adherence to engineering best practices as defined by platform architect, including:
>Coding and source control standards
>Timely and thorough code review
>Proper ticket hygiene
5. Ensure that all team members post a daily status and that all blockers are being addressed by the appropriate party
6. Mentorship and development of junior team members and interns
7. Maintain a growth plan for every member of the team for review with eng leadership on a quarterly basis
8. Responsible for all Lead functions during the sprint, including:
>Participating in sprint grooming session
>Assigning all team tickets during the spring
>Coordinating/executing on sprint demos
>Attending all sprint planning sessions
>Ensuring proper ticket estimates for sprint cycles
9. Responsible for successful implementation of team SLO/SLI/SLA initiatives.
10. Review and provide team summary report for weekly engineer reports.
11. Maintain a weekly focus report that aligns with the goals in Engineering Weekly Focus:
>Responsible for production on-call rotation
>Weekly checkpoint with VP of Engineering
