Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Manager - Design Engineering he/she will:

Use problem solving techniques and skills to design product and make project decisions. Develop project ownership. This includes leading team meetings with an engaged approach and publishing communication. Apply experience and acquired technical expertise to develop cost targets, quality levels, and project timelines. Work with technicians, designers and engineers in an engineering environment, openly collaborate with the team, give meaningful feedback during design reviews, and contribute your experience to the team. Manage project priorities and resources. Define the vision of the product with product management. Effectively communicate results to management and other functional areas. Influence manufacturing, service and purchasing to resolve issues. This includes good soft skills with the ability to achieve results without direct reporting authority. Give technical presentations. The drive is toward
completion of new, existing, and already started projects.

Job Experience/Skills: 

Bachelors or a Master's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Work experience may substitute for degree.

7+ years of experience in design, managing projects and ability to mentor junior staff. Minimum 5 years' experience specifically in: Strong proficiency using SolidWorks 3D CAD software creating high-quality 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings. PDM experience is a plus. Injection molded part design with technical knowledge of materials and mold construction. Detail orientated with proven mechanical ability and a hands-on approach. Working knowledge of outdoor power equipment or similar tools. Understands rapid proto-typing methods.  This position requires the occasional use of hand tools and light fabrication as needed. Background of mechanical and/or electrical related problem solving in an engineering environment. Working understanding of GD&T, how to apply and interpret. Ability to work with and mentor junior engineers. Well-developed oral and written communication skills and ability to give presentations.

Education:

Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Work experience may substitute for degree.

Travel:

This position will require travel as needed depending on the project. Less than 10% is expected.
