JOB DESCRIPTION

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

 

The Lab supports the visual testing needs of various research programs. We are attempting to quantitatively measure the visual comfort of first party hardware under development. This work requires ongoing studies in which participants are briefed on using new equipment and guided through an activity.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Observing usability testing sessions, taking notes, and providing detailed transcripts for the team. Assisting with user testing preparation activities. Coding user research videos. Creating highlight videos/screenshots, and assisting with data analysis and report documentation. Assisting with data collection activities The research assistant must be organized and have excellent communication skills. They will be working on scheduling experimental sessions and ensuring that all participants are recruited and consented following existing protocols. Make a series of laboratory measurements of existing devices, sizing, fit, and proctor the participant. Proctor sessions, which will include meet and greet responsibilities and instructing participants how to operate the Station. They will engage participants in structured conversations in the system and at key times solicit feedback through the
use of surveys and freeform feedback. The RA will be required to transcribe freeform feedback during conversations for later thematic analysis. RA will be responsible for following COVID-19 sanitation protocols to ensure the safety of participants and other project staff.

QUALIFICATION

Receive BA/BS degree or equivalent 4+ years in scientific discipline Have proficiency in computer productivity tools (Document, Spreadsheet, Presentations) Have excellent time management skills and ability to follow SOPs Interest in general research and/or user research methods Excellent observation skills Detailed oriented and ability to be responsive to varying needs and changing priorities

 

 

DESIRED

Basic comfort with command line computer instructions Some familiarity with remote computer access with SSH Introductory familiarity with python and Jupiter or Colab Experience with experimental research with human subjects (UX, Psychology, Human Factors)
