We are talking about our Infrastructure team & a position that will appreciate your experience with Linux while still providing you career growth. We don't have siloed teams that only get to handle the same issues repeatedly, our team casts a wide net of what they handle to ensure the university is always up & running. From server racks to installs, from customer support to project launches & from in depth troubleshooting to routine maintenance are just naming a few avenues awaiting you. We desire someone who is methodical in troubleshooting, prioritizes but with urgency in mind, & most of all considers themselves a Linux pro. Think of this as your niche place to work since you are a niche person we are looking for!
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent by hire date
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in desktop or computer administration. Every 60 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) year of experience, not to exceed two (2) years of experience. Six (6) years of experience in server administration, Linux or Windows as appropriate for position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of VMWare virtualization platform.
Ability to learn storage management protocols.
Responsibilities:
Installs, configures, and maintains the server infrastructure and enterprise applications for the University and assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in the server environment. May assist and direct less experienced staff members and other University partners.
Essential Functions:
Performs daily server administration tasks and participates in a 24/7 on- Call support rotation.
Monitors, analyzes, and resolves problems associated with the server infrastructure.
Provides 2nd/3rd level customer support to identify, explain, and resolve technical issues relating to the server infrastructure.
Tunes performance and configures high availability of the server infrastructure
Participates in defining security protocols and practices and follows established security protocols and practices to ensure the security of the server infrastructure.
Participates in the capacity planning process for the server infrastructure.
Leads infrastructure projects and advises on new or optimal technologies or methods to improve the functionality and/or efficiency for the server infrastructure.
Coaches, trains, or mentors less experienced staff members.
