This position oversees the Slope Maintenance grooming and trail crew operation departments. This position must have a minimum of four years experience in ski area operations, preferably in a supervisory role.

Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

Summer and winter, perform site visits around the mountain to survey nightly and daily project conditions and evaluate any irregularities. Manage remedies as needed. Inspect all trail conditions for safety, manage environmental impacts, timber management, brush cutting, bike/hike trails, monitor groomed conditions in winter and monitor and mitigate conditions of summer trails. Summer: inspect mountain environment to ensure all erosion control is intact. Summer: ensure all jobs on the mountain are appropriately staffed and send out the teams for trail crew and all daily operations including special projects. Winter: Check in with groomers and send out the daily grooming report and assign tasks as needed. Study data and utilize technology from various sources such as fleet management, snow depth, GIS etc to improve qulity and efficiency of grooming and trail crew operations. Work closely with construction leads around the ski area to assist with coordinating various projects. Ensure that all personnel are wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the particular job and help conduct and document safety meetings and assist in ensuring the department is following all safety protocols. Work with the Shop Manager and the Snowmaking Manager to ensure communication and consistent and smooth operations of the shop and equipment in the Slope Maintenance Director's absense. Manage day-to-day
operations of Slope Maintenance in the absence of the Director. Schedule personnel to accommodate daily work requirements; schedule equipment as needed. Maintain impeccable cleanliness standards. Make sure that all sites are free of debris and hazards around project sites. Closely monitor opening and closing procedures in the wintertime work with Patrol to ensure safety of trail system. Handle emergency staffing/scheduling issues that may arise. Ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements. Operate equipment as needed to fill in on special events and projects Plan impending and long-term projects and ensure proper time, resources and coverage of labor requirements within budgets. Assist in preparing annual budgets for projects, annual operations budget, and capital budgets. Schedule and attend team meetings, as required. Other duties, as assigned

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability required for this job:

Minimum of four years experience in ski area operations, preferably in a supervisory role. Ability to interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with SSRC's Service Excellence standards. Ability to problem-solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers. Ability to be a consistent role model for company's Service Excellence standards Ability to address situations with calm authority and common sense. Knowledge of the overall ski area operation. Ability to safely operate a snowmobile, heavy equipment and various company vehicles Ability to interact, guide and influence multiple departments Ability to ski or snowboard at minimum advanced level in order to cover all trails on the mountain Must communicate clearly, both verbally and written, in English Must be computer literate and be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and walk on uneven terrain for long periods of time, outdoors, often in severe winter weather conditions. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 Lbs. (pumps, generators, tools and equipment) Must meet SSRC minimum driving standards and have current Driver's license; a successful motor vehicle record, background check is required.
