Sr Payroll Specialist

Hackensack, NJ 

This position is Remote but will require quarterly meetings in office in Hackensack, NJ. Must be COVID-19 Vaccinated. 

We are looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist who is responsible for managing the company's bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing, and in compliance with all state and federal regulations. This hands-on role is a key collaborator between the HR and accounting teams to ensure smooth weekly and bi-weekly payroll operations for a multi-entity, multi-state, 15k plus exempt and non-exempt employee base.

Major Responsibilities:

Driving the processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls per established company procedures with payroll team members Ensure compliance with all compensation and tax regulations staying up to date on federal, state and local tax laws Prepare and submit all necessary files for special earnings, deductions, benefits and imputed income transactions Oversee payroll adjustment transactions as required to include year-end adjustments to produce W2c's Prepare reports and forecasts for senior management and others in the organization as requested Design, document and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes Assist in legal, tax and internal audit requirements with preparation of required documentation Analyze compensation and tax related data
to troubleshoot and respond to payroll issues and required adjustments Manage payroll banking and escheatment documentation Assist with government compliance requirements to include census and multi worksite reporting Working knowledge of FLSA requirement to process look back periods correctly on incentive pay Assist senior management team with projects as needed, including streamlining and automation of processes

Qualifications:

Proven 5 plus years of experience as a Payroll Analyst in a multi-state setting, or similar role Deep knowledge of federal and state payroll and tax regulations Hands-on experience with payroll and HR software (ADP Workforce Now and Paylocity experience a plus) Strong Excel and database reporting skills required Excellent communication and analytical skill with the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions Ability to work accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team Strong organizational skill and attention to details Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities BS in Accounting, Business Management or relevant field
